On June 03, 2022, Cambodian Derivatives Exchange (CDX) hosted a monthly event called “Non-Farm Payrolls Night and Trading Competition”, which was joined by a few of our derivative brokers and their clients in bid to make use of the non-farm payrolls figure release, as well as to increase knowledge, trading experience, and much more.
The event was held at Goldwell Cafe in Golden Tower, Phnom Penh, gathering numerous participants and creating excitements throughout the event.
Mr. Lawrence Kook, Director and Chief Executive Officer of CDX, made a meaningful remark during the event on why non-farm payrolls—the measure of the number of workers in the United States excluding farm workers and workers in a handful of other job classifications—was an important statistic for investors and traders to grasp profitable trading opportunities.
He mentioned that, “The relationship you form with others is one of the most essential things in life. Clearly, the primary goal of holding the Non-Farm Payrolls Night is not just to provide participants with crucial market information and knowledge. It is also about how to work as a team; it could be between traders and traders, traders and brokers, and possibly groups among participation, to further discuss how we can benefit from the market as much as we can. At CDX, as the market leader, we always look to initiate and support our derivative brokerage firms in creating platforms for their clients to take part, learn, discuss, and profit from the market.”
As a consequence, from professionals, participants would receive a real-time market news explanation and key points of both technical and fundamental analysis. In practice, there was a demo trading competition in order to let all contestants apply the analytic skills they had learned as well as to get a great sense of trading that would be effective for their actual trading in the future. The top 3 winners were rewarded with certificates and prizes for their achievement in the event.
This Non-Farm Payrolls Night was also a fantastic platform for social network where participants could share information, look for business cooperation, and enjoy gourmet foods and beverages on Friday night (Frist week of each month). Some of them even brought home prizes won from the event’s lucky draw session.
As the largest central counterparty in Cambodia, CDX believes it is our job to expand Cambodia’s derivatives market for the better. To achieve that, we are enthusiastic about offering educational events and initiatives in assisting our derivative brokers, investors, and peers in all possibilities.
