On October 17, 2019, Cambodian Derivatives Exchange (“SECC”) co-organized with Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia (“SECC”) and Administration Department of Kampong Chhnang’s Provincial Hall in running the roadshow in Kampong Chhnang, the fourth stop of the 2019 roadshow. H.E. Mr. Sok Dara, Deputy Director General of SECC and representative of H.E. Mr. Sou Socheat, Director General of SECC, and H.E. Sron Sam Rithy, Deputy Provincial Governor of Kampong Chhnang and representative of H.E. Chhour Chandoeun, Provincial Governor of Kampong Chhnang, presided over this roadshow themed “What Is Derivatives: Readiness, Investment and Understanding?”, which focuses on promoting and increasing the awareness of derivatives investment across Cambodia, building up investor confidence, and assisting them in being ready to invest in derivatives, one of the most popular financial products in the world. There were over 150 participants in this roadshow.
H.E. Mr. Sok Dara graced the roadshow in Kampong Chhnang with his opening remarks, highlighting the current situation of Cambodia derivatives market and the mission of SECC to strengthen the regulations for the market, the investor protection policies, and the standards of trading practices. He also encouraged investors to raise the level of their investment-related knowledge, to make themselves ready, and to only look for companies licensed by SECC for risk management wise. H.E. Mr. Sok Dara was visibly pleased with collaborating with CDX, which is one of the most leading Central Counterparty companies and always active in enriching the public’s investment know-how as well as in promoting Cambodia’s image on international stage.
Mr. Lawrence Kook, Director of CDX, was very hopeful and optimistic about the roadshow and believed it would lay a significant foundation for investors investing in derivative products. Mr. Lawrence also committed to the better development of Cambodia derivatives market by bringing in latest technology, smooth and transparent trading platform, variety of trading products, effective investor protection policies, quality services, knowledge and skills training courses, introduction of good investment opportunities, and increase in market players.
At the end of the roadshow in Kampong Chhnang, H.E. Sron Sam Rithy did the closing remarks, saying thanks to SECC and CDX for bringing educational, investment-related roadshow to this province. He also reminded the participants to choose only professional and licensed companies in order to minimize investment risks.
Since the inception of the roadshow in 2018, CDX has partnered SECC and provincial administration departments in hosting the event in 9 provinces already, including Preah Sihanouk, Kampong Cham, Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Takeo, Kampot, Kep, and this Kampong Chhnang provinces.
